Traslanzas Bodegas y Viñedos: Crafting Exceptional Wines for the Discerning Swiss Palate

Hidden in the yet small Cigales Denomination of Origin in Spain, Traslanzas Bodegas y Viñedos is a good example of how to make wine the traditional way. The winery was set up by the enthusiastic team of oenologist María Pinacho and viticulturist Carlos González, who are dedicated to producing really good wines from their vineyards.

A Legacy Rooted in Tradition

The heart of Traslanzas is the “Pago de Traslanzas,” a vineyard in Mucientes, Valladolid. This vineyard was planted in 1945 by María’s grandfather, Aurelio Pinacho, and it’s cultivated with Tempranillo vines. The vines are really old and goblet-trained, the traditional way!

This  means they don’t produce a lot of grapes each year – less than a kilo per vine – but the wine has amazing qualities and longevity.

A Diverse and Distinguished Portfolio

Traslanzas Bodegas y Viñedos, our first winery in Switzerland, has a wide range of wines that will please both those who know a lot about wine and those who are just getting into it:

Traslanzas Rosado: This wine is a modern take on the traditional Cigales rosé, and it’s got a complex and delicate profile that’ll give your palate a good time. A versatile and flavoury rosé that we, in Mucientes, drink with everything.

Traslanzas Verdejo + Albillo: This surprising white blend is fresh, smooth and creamy, with a clean and bright golden-yellow colour. It’s aged in American oak barrels and then left to age in the bottle. It´s the white wine that red wine lovers would drink and love.

Traslanzas Tinto: This red wine is made from ancient bush-trained vines, and it’s a perfect example of how low-yield, high-quality grape production can produce something really special. Leave it breathe for an hour and then enjoy this tempranillo along with a red meat or a winter stew.

Remolón Rosado: This rosé comes from a vineyard at 800 metres altitude with calcareous soils, and it’s elegant and complex, showing off the unique terroir of its origin. Did you think that the rosés from Provence were sexy? Wait for this one.

Tres Cuestas: This wine is made from one bunch of grapes grown in a 40-year-old vineyard 780 metres up on red clay soil that gives the wine a bit of a kick. This tempranillo is an every-day red wine… but it will be perfect if you want to put down a nice steak!

Aligning with Swiss Appreciation for Quality

Swiss wine lovers, who are known for knowing what they like and being happy to spend more on top-quality wines, will love Bodegas Traslanzas range. The careful way used to manage their vineyards, the respect they have for traditional methods, and their dedication to making wines with depth, intensity, and unique ageing potential, all of which are things the Swiss love, are all really important to them.  Each bottle of Traslanzas tells the story of its rich heritage and offers an exceptional tasting experience that’s right up the Swiss market’s street.
