Sangria wine is a refreshing, fruit based beverage. Check out these two great recipes for Sangria wine here.

Sangria wine is a very refreshing fruit based drink. The combination of fresh fruit and its idyllic alcohol based partner is crucial to making a memorable beverage. The recipe is relatively simple, but incredibly versatile, so if you’re the experimental type, there’s no end to the different varieties of this drink you can create in your own kitchen.

The most basic of Sangria wine recipes consist of a good solid wine. Traditionally, Sangria is made with a base of red wine; however, there are plenty of recipes available online for use with white wines.

#1. Recommended red wines for use in Sangria include Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz or Merlot. Add to the wine a lemon and an orange, both cut into wedges or slices. Leave the peel on the fruit, but remove any pips or seeds. Add to the mixture 2 tablespoons of sugar and a shot of brandy. Leave the drink to chill overnight, and before serving, add 2 cups of club soda. Some, like me, like to add a little ice to accompany the fruity drink.

And that’s it, one simple Sangria wine recipe, taking all of five minutes to prepare! In truth, almost all Sangria recipes are this easy to create, allowing you to serve a flamboyant looking and beautifully flavoured drink on any and all occasions.

#2. For a simple white wine Sangria, try a bottle of Chardonnay, Chablis or Sauvignon Blanc. Add 3 oranges, and 1 each of lemon and lime. Slice or cut the fruit into wedges and add to the white wine, along with 4 tablespoons of sugar. Chill the white Sangria wine overnight, and again, add club soda or ginger ale before serving.

The fruit element is not limited to those from the citrus family. There are some great Sangria wine recipes involving all kinds of fruit, including a white wine Sangria mixed with pineapple and passion fruit juice. Mixing red wine with berries is a great way of making fruity Sangria with relatively low risk!

Sangria wine makes a fantastic party punch like drink, and is certainly going to go down as a hit with friends. Because of the various different fruit and wines that can be used to make Sangria, you can be sure that there will be a recipe available online that will suit your palette and your menu. If you’re unsure which Sangria wine recipe is right for you, the best rule of thumb to base your recipe on is this: red wine for red meat, white wine for fish and seafood, and rosé for poultry dishes.

For an extra special effect for your Sangria wine, or if you think Sangria is going to be a drink you regularly serve, shop online for some authentic looking Sangria serving jugs and glasses. The pitchers tend to be ceramic, and the drink is generally served without the fruit. Use a wooden spoon to prevent fruit slipping into the glasses of your guests.

In all, Sangria wine makes a fantastic party drink, one that can be a little different each time you make it, or one you can create classic recipe with.
